Opéras
Le Grand Théâtre de Pyongyang. [avril 2013]
De part et d'autre de l'entrée, deux grandes mosaïques
illustrent les opéras majeurs du répertoire : Sea
of Blood et The Flower Girl.
Les 5 principaux opéras révolutionnaires,
créés au début des années 1970 sous la
supervision de Kim Il-sung :
Sea of Blood - 피바다 D'après le roman homonyme. Créé en
1971.
En 1968, le roman avait déjà été
adapté au cinéma.
The Flower Girl - 꽃파는 처녀
D'après le roman homonyme. 1972.
La même année, l'œuvre a aussi fait l'objet d'un
film.

Le principal orchestre symphonique de
Corée du Nord est l'Orchestre d’État fondé en
1946 (조선국립교향악단, Joseon Gungrip Gyohyangakdan, State Symphony
Orchestra of DPRK). Depuis les années 2000, l'orchestre
enregistre aussi de la musique étrangère : le
premier disque paru dans cette collection (2005) est
consacré à la 7e symphonie de Chostakovitch,
dite "Leningrad".
